Sam Vines

Acquired: Rapids signed Sam Vines to a three-year homegrown contract on February 23, 2018. Vines was later signed to a four-year contract through the 2027 season, on Jan. 22, 2024 from Royal Antwerp FC of the Belgian Pro League.

• Made his 15th MLS appearance on 7/27 at Avaya Stadium against the San Jose Earthquakes.
• Named to the MLS Homegrown roster that took on Guadalajara’s U-20 team on 7/30. Vines wore the captain’s band for the second half of the match and converted his penalty during the penalty shoot-out.

2018

• Became the seventh Development Academy player to sign a first-team contract with the Rapids.
• Spent the majority of the 2018 season on loan with the Charlotte Independence of the USL.
• Vines appeared in 29 games for the Independence, 25 from the start, logging 2,303 minutes.
• Vines made his MLS debut with the Rapids on 10/21 against the San Jose Earthquakes.
• Missed the final game of the year due to a quad strain (10/28).

2021

• Called up to joint USMNT / U-23 MNT January 2021 camp in Bradenton, Fla., on 1/5
• Played 64 minutes as a starter and assisted on Jesús Ferreira’s first goal in a 7-0 friendly win over Trinidad & Tobago in Orlando, Fla., on 1/31

• Made USMNT senior international debut in 1-0 win over Costa Rica in Carson, Calif., on 2/1

• Called up to Jason Kreis' 25-player U.S. U-23 MNT camp in Miami alongside teammate Jonathan Lewis on 10/4

• Joined the Rapids youth system in 2013 as a 13-year-old, playing on the U-15, U-16, U-18 and U-19 Development Academy teams.
• In all, he made 63 appearances for the DA (60 starts), scoring eight goals.
• Vines was named to the U-17/18 US Soccer Development Academy Best XI for the Central Conference.
• Earned the 2017 Rapids Academy Player of the Year.
