Steven Gerrard will say goodbye to Anfield on Saturday, but he'll never walk alone.
Though the LA Galaxy are eager to get their hands on the Liverpool and England legend, his hometown club isn't quite ready to let go, giving the 34-year-old Gerrard a special farewell before his last home match against Crystal Palace.
Gerrard, who was accompanied by his three daughters, was flanked by an honor guard made up of both teams as he appeared before Liverpool fans for the final time on Saturday afternoon. Liverpool lost 3-1 to Palace as Gerrard put in a full 90-minute shift.
"It felt very strange. I’ve been dreading this moment and the reason being is I’m going to miss it so much," Gerrard said afterward while addressing the crowd. "I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m absolutely devastated I’m never going to play in front of these supporters again."
