Will Robles win SotW for double save? Can Rimando make it two straight?

MLS Save of the Week: Week 29

Luis Robles made his 100th-straight start this weekend – now the New York Red Bulls ‘keeper looks like he could be in line for his second Save of the Week win of the year.

Robles’ incredible double save on Diego Valeri’s deflected free kick and Nat Borchers’ follow-up late in the Red Bulls’ 2-0 win at the Portland Timbers on Sunday is one of five nominees for the Week 29 award, and the likely early favorite to take home the top honors.

Joining Robles in the field are defending Save of the Week champion Nick Rimando, four-time Save of the Week winner Tyler Deric and a pair of ‘keepers – New York City FC’s Josh Saunders and FC Dallas’ Jesse Gonzalez – looking for their first honors of 2015.

Rimando is nominated for rushing off the line to stop LA forward Alan Gordon's late breakaway attempt in Real Salt Lake’s 3-0 win against the Galaxy on Saturday, while Deric is in the running for his stabbing reaction stop on Philadelphia’s Cristian Maidana in Houston’s 2-0 loss at Philadelphia over the weekend.

Saunders’ is in the field for his early double save in NYCFC’s 3-2 win against San Jose, with the veteran ‘keeper punching away a dangerous cross before getting low to deny a Sanna Nyassi rebound to keep the match scoreless in the 16th minute. Gonzalez rounds out the field for his outstretched stop in first half stoppage time of FCD’s 3-1 loss at Sporting Kansas City on Friday.

Which save was your favorite? Vote now – the winner will be announced on Friday.
