MLS Save of the Week: Week 17

Some remarkably quick reflexes were on display as goalies across the league made some incredible saves in Week 17.

Veteran ’keeper Stefan Frei valiantly tried to keep his undermanned Sounders team in the game by stopping a penalty kick attempt from Philadelphia Union captain Maurice Edu – though Seattle ended up dropping a 1-0 midweek decision.

The Chicago Fire also lost a 1-0 game on Wednesday but not because of Sean Johnson, who covered a ton of ground to bat away a Bobby Boswell header destined for the corner of the net.

Player of the Month nomineeDavid Ousted continued to work his magic with a leaping stop of a snapshot from New England’s London Woodberry to lead the Vancouver Whitecaps to their third straight win Saturday.

For Real Salt Lake, veteran Nick Rimando did what he does best by getting low to deny a one-timer from Mike Grella in a 1-0 Red Bulls victory.

And last but not least, Luis Robles helped the Red Bulls win their second game of their week with a sensational one-handed stop of Kwadwo Poku in their 3-1 derby defeat of New York City FC.
