Vancouver Whitecaps book return ticket to Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs

Whitecaps book ticket to playoffs for second straight year

The Vancouver Whitecaps are going back to the dance.

A 0-0 draw at home against FC Dallas on Wednesday night was enough to secure the Caps a place in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs for the second straight year.

This will mark the Caps' third postseaon appearance in five years since joining MLS in 2011.

Vancouver have not made it past the Knockout Round in either of their two previous playoff adventures. In 2012, they fell to the LA Galaxy, who eventually went on to lift the trophy. Last year, the Caps were ousted by Dallas under dramatic circumstances. A controversial handball on Kendall Waston resulted in an 84th-minute penalty kick, which Michel converted to win the match, 2-1.

With two games left to play in 2015, the Caps currently sit in 3rd place in the Western Conference, one point behind Dallas and the Galaxy for the top spot. They are four points behind Supporters' Shield leaders New York Red Bulls.

If the playoffs were to start today, Vancouver would host a Knockout Round match against 6th-place San Jose Earthquakes.
