The Third Round of the 2015 US Open Cup kicked off Wednesday afternoon with a marathon Cascadia derby between Portland Timbers 2 and Seattle Sounders 2 at Starfire Stadium.
Goals from Rennico Clarke and Andy Craven (the latter's second of the tournament) knotted the score at one after 90 minutes, but Sounders 2 took home the bragging rights after Sam Garza fed Pablo Rossi for the game-winner 13 minutes into the first extra-time period. Sounders 2 will now travel to Real Salt Lake for a Fourth Round match on June 16 at 10 pm ET.
The other MLS-operated USL team to make the Third Round, the Real Monarchs, won't be joining them in the Fourth Round after falling to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Of the nine North American Soccer League clubs based in the USA that entered the competition on Wednesday, only two survived -- the New York Cosmos and the Atlanta Silverbacks. NASL club Minnesota United fell in a heartbreaker to Saint Louis FC in a penalty-kick shootout.
One amateur team is still alive as PSA Elite, the only USASA club left standing, beat PDL side Ventura County Fusion.
