The Vancouver Whitecaps have two solid left-back options on their roster in Jordan Harvey and Sam Adekugbe. But a media report out of Panama claims they are set to up the competition at that spot even further with the acquisition of veteran Panamanian international Luis “Coco” Henríquez.
The stocky 33-year-old recently ended an eight-year stint at Polish club Lech Poznan, and ElSiglo.com, citing “sources close to the player,” reported on Saturday that he's considering a move to MLS, with the Whitecaps believed to be his likely destination.
Henríquez holds 74 caps for Los Canaleros and was a member of the squad that made an underdog run to the finals of the 2011 Gold Cup. He has also been named to manager Hernán Darío Gómez's preliminary roster for this summer's edition.
He began his pro career with Sporting San Miguelito in his homeland, and has also featured for Panamanian sides Árabe Unido and Tauro and in Colombia with Envigado.
