The New England Revolution could be facing a big hole in their midfield should Jermaine Jones not return for the 2016 season, and they reportedly have a replacement in mind.
Ivorian international Cheick Tiote has been linked to the Revs in several reports. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has struggled recently with injuries and has only made just four league appearances, one start, this season for Newcastle, where he has been a first-team regular since 2010.

Tiote has been capped 53 times with Ivory Coast since 2009, including starting all three of their matches in the 2010 World Cup. Jones, who joined the Revs midway through the 2014 season, is out of contract and has expressed the desire to seek a long-term deal for his next stop.
