Matthew Doyle: Seattle Sounders will have to work for it to top LAFC | Extratime

Doyle: Sounders the favorite, but LAFC won't make it easy

Carlos Vela - LAFC - arms raised

They might be the underdog on paper, but there's also plenty of reason for LAFC to like their chances going into their Round One matchup in the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs against the Seattle Sounders on Tuesday (TV & streaming info).

As the Extratime crew assessed what they think of the clash between Western Conference powers, host Matthew Doyle said the reason for optimism on the LAFC side is as simple as this: They have one of the best players the league has ever seen in Carlos Vela and one of the most ruthless strikers in MLS history in Bradley Wright-Phillips.

With those two in the fold, LAFC should still be able to score with anybody, even with key absences all over the field, including a pair of other stud attackers in Diego Rossi and Brian Rodriguez.

"I'm not going to pick LAFC, but I am really looking forward to this game," Doyle said. "And if they have Carlos Vela and Bradley Wright-Phillips up top, it doesn't matter that the third attacker is a 16-year-old. They're going to find at least a couple of goals and they're going to make Seattle really, really work for it."
