Williams faces Union for 1st time since trade: "They turned their back on me"

Sheanon Williams, Houston Dynamo

It’s the story inside the story of Sunday night’s league match between Philadelphia and Houston at PPL Park (7 pm ET, FS1 and FOX Deportes).

MLS veteran Sheanon Williams will be returning to PPL Park for the first time since a July 23 trade saw him leave the city he called home for five years. And his mission on Sunday is clear: to help the Houston Dynamo claim all three points to keep up their playoff chase in the Western Conference.

But if he’s successful, it would also drive a dagger into the hearts of his former Union teammates and those of the Union supporters for whom he once served as captain.

Don’t look for much sympathy from Williams, however, as he explained to HoustonDynamo.com.

“Obviously spent a lot of time there, definitely gave a lot of energy and effort to that team and felt that they kind of turned their back on me,” Williams said. “So I’m looking to get back and have a good showing.”
