Sergio Santos claims AT&T Goal of the Week for MLS is Back Round of 16

Knockout Stage goals are vital. It’s often what separates the teams who advance and who goes home.


There were 22 goals scored in the MLS is Back Tournament Round of 16 — you can watch them all here — including a few special finishes.


But there can be only one AT&T Goal of the Week winner for the Round of 16 and that honor goes to Sergio Santos of the Philadelphia Union.


The Brazilian garnered 59.41 percent of the fan vote for his 63rd-minute winner against the New England Revolution — on his final touch of the game.


Cristian Espinoza was second with 12.47 percent of the vote for his low strike inside the far post to open the scoring in the San Jose Earthquakes' 5-2 win over Real Salt Lake.


Speaking of that seven-goal thriller, RSL’s Douglas Martinez finished third in the voting for his chipped equalizer just 1:13 later.


Taty Castellanos’ insurance goal for NYCFC against Toronto FC (8.02%) and Brian Rodriguez’s late left-footed finish in LAFC's comprehensive 4-1 win over the Seattle Sounders (7.76 %) capped the voting.
