A pair of clubs needing to start to make late-season charges up the Western Conference table meet on Viernes de Fútbol as the San Jose Earthquakes play host to the Colorado Rapids at Avaya Stadium. The Quakes return home after seeing their winless run extended to six matches in a 2-1 loss at the Houston Dynamo last weekend, leaving them six points out of the final playoff position in the conference. The Rapids are a further two points back at the foot of the table, coming off back-to-back home losses after a 2-1 defeat by Columbus Crew SC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

  • Quincy Amarikwa scored his fourth goal in the last four games – in his fifth start for the Quakes after coming over from the Chicago Fire – but still saw his club’s winless streak extended to six games in a 2-1 defeat at the Houston Dynamo on Saturday evening.
