Quakes honor 21 supporters with "Devotion" scarves | SIDELINE

San Jose Earthquakes devotion scarf

Fans of the San Jose Earthquakes didn’t just walk out of Avaya Stadium this past Friday night celebrating their team’s win against Sporting Kansas City. A select and super-dedicated group also got this sweet reward from the team—a limited-edition scarf.

Fellow supporters voted through the team’s web site to honor 21 of the most, well, devoted Quakes fans. Besides gifting them the scarves, the team also honored the bunch with a halftime ceremony.

So what kind of stuff proved serious Quakes devotion? For one example, take Shaun del Grande, a season ticket-holder whose family has supported the team since the 1970s. He now provides team vehicles and community support.

Another couple, Marlee and Glenn Castleman, have been season ticketholders since 2010—and rock hats with team pins they’ve collected commemorating every home win since then.

And then, of course, there was Dan Margarit, a Quakes supporter since 1999, and a founding member of the 1906/San Jose Ultras.
