Magnus Eriksson has remained a reliable starter for the San Jose Earthquakes since the arrival of manager Matias Almeyda. Yet the 30-year-old Swede could be on his way back to his homeland sooner than later, according to a report from Swedish outlet SportExpressen.

With less than six months remaining on his contract, SportExpressen says Eriksson has been in negotiations with Djugardens, where he played the 2016 and 2017 Allsvenskan seasons leaving for San Jose to join former Quakes manager and Swedish compatriot Mikael Stahre.

According to the report, Djugardens would like to negotiate a transfer for the 30-year-old during Sweden's summer transfer window, which opens on July 29. Otherwise, they could acquire him on a free transfer following the MLS season.

Eriksson has 13 goals and 14 assists for San Jose in 69 MLS appearances and last year set a career high for league minutes in any division with 2,802. He has played every minute for the Quakes at the MLS is Back Tournament, as they finished first in Group B. They are currently waiting on their opponent in the Round of 16.
