Report: FC Dallas' Reggie Cannon drawing German, Belgium interest

European clubs reportedly lining up for Reggie Cannon

Reggie Cannon - FC Dallas - Close up

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

It appears European clubs are lining up for FC Dallas fullback Reggie Cannon.

The 22-year-old Homegrown, who is also getting regular minutes with the US men’s national team, is on the radar of German Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, as well as Belgium sides Anderlecht and Ghent, according to this report.

Should Cannon land at Freiburg, which finished eighth in the Bundesliga after a season-ending 4-0 thrashing of Schalke 04, he’d be the latest USMNT player in the league, joining the likes of Weston McKennie (Schalke 04), Tyler Adams (Red Bull Leipzig), Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund), John Brooks (Wolfsburg), Josh Sargent (Werder Bremen), Ulysses Llanez (Wolfsburg) and former FC Dallas Homegrown Chris Richards (Bayern Munich).

Ghent is home to Canadian international Jonathan David and if Cannon heads to Anderlecht it could set up for an interesting battle for minutes with former New York Red Bulls right back Michael Amir Murillo. The Panamanian international has locked down the starting spot since his transfer in December.

Cannon became the 18th Homegrown to sign with FC Dallas in 2016. He has 61 starts in 64 career regular season appearances. He also has 11 caps with the USMNT after making his debut against Peru Oct. 2018.
