TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Contract terminated
Real Salt Lake and Designated Player Sam Johnson have mutually agreed to terminate the player's contract, the club announced Saturday.
Johnson, a Liberian international striker, joined RSL from Norwegian club Valarenga ahead of the 2019 season and went on to score nine goals in his debut season in MLS. He scored once in 10 appearances (three starts) in 2020 and had missed the club's last four games.
RSL are fighting to gain a playoff spot from the Western Conference and next take on the LA Galaxy on Sunday (10:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
