- Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his sixth goal in the last seven matches, sending the Red Bulls on their way to a 3-2 come-from-behind win vs. the Chicago Fire on Friday. - The Timbers won the lone meeting between the teams a year ago, a 2-1 win May 24 at Red Bull Arena, their first win ever in Harrison. The Red Bulls had won both meetings at Red Bull Arena.
- The teams have met twice in Portland and played to 3-3 draws on both occasions, including in the lone meeting between the clubs in 2013.
