A key matchup in the Eastern Conference is set for midweek when Philadelphia Union play host to Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday evening at PPL Park. Union saw their two-game winning run come to an end, dropping a 2-1 decision to D.C. United on the road over the weekend. Crew SC have played to back-to-back draws, kicking off their road swing with a 2-2 result at Orlando City SC after going a man down on Saturday evening at the Citrus Bowl.

  • Union saw their two-game winning streak put to an end in a 2-1 defeat by D.C. United in the nation’s capital. Sebastian Le Toux scored his first goal of the season.
  • Kei Kamara became the first player to 10 goals this season in MLS, scoring his third goal in the last two games, but Crew SC still reached a second consecutive draw in their 2-2 result at Orlando City SC on Saturday evening.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Ethan Finlay scored twice and set up a goal from Kei Kamara as Crew SC rolled to a 4-1 win April 25 at MAPFRE Stadium.
  • Crew SC have a four-game winning streak alive vs. Union, winning all three meetings a year ago. Union’s last win in the series was a 3-0 victory June 5, 2013 at PPL Park. Crew SC have never lost to Union in Columbus. They have won six of seven meetings there all-time, with one draw.
