The MLS season might be around the corner, but Orlando City continue to address their back line.
Orlando City SC announced on Tuesday the signing of center back Seb Hines on loan with an option to extend. Hines – a 26-year-old English-American – joins the Lions from English Championship club Middlesbrough after spending the past week with the expansion MLS side.
"We're very pleased to have Seb join us," head coach Adrian Heath said in a statement. "His experience will be very valuable for our team's competitive position in our first MLS season. We look forward to start working with him."
Hines, who has made more than 80 appearances throughout various divisions in England, is only the latest defender that Orlando have look at in recent weeks. The club has been openly in the market for a center back to pair with Aurelien Collin, and Irish international Sean St Ledger started alongside Collin against NYCFC on Saturday in Charleston.
Brazilian veteran Paulo Andre was thought to be Orlando's first choice, but eventually decided to return home.
