NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION vs VANCOUVER WHITECAPS
GILLETTE STADIUM, Foxborough, Mass.
June 27, 2015 (WEEK 17, MLS Game #170)
7:30 p.m. ET (TSN2)

A meeting of top outfits in each conference is ahead when the New England Revolution play host to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution still sit in second place in the Eastern Conference, despite falling 2-1 at Columbus Crew SC at midweek. Whitecaps FC sit in a tie atop the Western Conference, continuing their long road swing with a 2-1 win at the New York Red Bulls last weekend.

  • Whitecaps FC continued their long road swing with a second consecutive victory, defeating the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday evening at Red Bull Arena. The ‘Caps are in the midst of a five-game road spell before their next game at BC Place on July 12.
  • Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted became the third goalkeeper in league history to save two penalty kicks in a game – stopping a pair of efforts from Bradley Wright-Phillips, who became the first player in MLS history to miss two spot kicks in the same game – in the Vancouver win at the Red Bulls.
  • Charlie Davies scored for a second consecutive league match in the Revolution’s 2-1 loss at D.C. United on Sunday afternoon. All seven of Davies’ goals this season have come in an 11-game stretch dating back to April 19.
  • The visiting team has never won in the all-time series between the teams. The teams reached a scoreless draw last March 22 at Gillette Stadium in the only meeting between the clubs; the Revolution had won the first home encounters with Whitecaps FC since their inception.
  • Whitecaps FC won the last meeting in Vancouver, a 4-3 triumph in 2013 at BC Place, their first meeting there ever. In the only other matchup in British Columbia, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the first encounter ever, at Empire Field in 2011.
