A massive clash atop the Eastern Conference is ahead when the New England Revolution return home to entertain D.C. United on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium. The clubs are separated by just two points at the top of the East table after both saw long undefeated streaks end. The Revolution saw their nine-game unbeaten run come to an end at midweek, falling 4-2 at Sporting Kansas City, while United had an eight-game streak of their own put to a stop last Sunday in a stoppage-time 1-0 loss at Philadelphia Union.
- The Revolution extended their home undefeated streak to 14 games in league play, a club record, with their draw with Toronto FC. They have not lost at Gillette Stadium in 16 games in all competitions, dating back to last July 30.
- United saw their eight-game undefeated streak put to an end in dramatic fashion, Philadelphia Union scoring the lone goal of the game deep in stoppage time for a victory Sunday evening at PPL Park. The streak was the fifth-longest in United club history, the longest since the 2007 season.
- The teams split their season series a year ago, each club winning at home. United took a 2-0 win April 5 at RFK Stadium; the Revolution returned the favor with a 2-1 win, May 24 at Gillette Stadium.
- United lead the all-time series with 29 victories; the Revolution have won 26, with 9 draws. United have also won two of the three series all-time in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
