New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones is helped off the field

The New England Revolution will be missing star midfielder Jermaine Jones, after he had surgery on Friday.

The club announced that Jones underwent surgery to repair a bilateral sports hernia. As a result of the procedure, the US international is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Jones, in his second season with New England, has made nine appearances, all starts, so far this season. He also had sports hernia surgery back in February, and made his season debut in April as a result of the recovery and rehabilitation from that surgery.
