FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Both the New England Revolution and the Montreal Impact entered the day winless and scoreless, and the left the same way.
While both clubs did pick up their first point of the season in a 0-0 draw at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Montreal (0-1-1, 1 pt), who were playing without Ignacio Piatti, suffered saw an injury take down Cameron Porter, a development that could shape their lineup moving forward.
It was a fairly even first half, with neither team creating much danger. The most noteworthy moment came in the 18th minute when Porter skied for a 50-50 ball and landed awkwardly on his left leg. He was taken off on a stretcher with what looked to be a serious injury and replaced by Jack McInerney in the 20th minute..

Montreal did have a golden opportunity to get on the board late in the half when a loose ball found its way across the box to Dominic Oduro alone on the right side in the 44th minute, but his low attempt at the far post went just wide and the scoreless draw carried into the second half.
Not long after the whistle blew to start the final 45 minutes of play, the Impact and Oduro ran into more trouble when the Montreal midfielder collided knee-to-knee with Revolution (0-1-1, 1 pt) defender Darius Barnes.
After some time on the sidelines testing the leg with a trainer, Oduro limped across the field in the 56th minute and subbed out for Andres Romero.

The already depleted Impact received another blow shortly after the hour mark when Hassoun Camara yanked down Juan Agudelo by the jersey, earning his second yellow card of the game and a red card that left Montreal short-handed the rest of the way.
Although the Revolution continued to put pressure on Montreal’s and get numbers in and around the area, they were unable to cash in on the man advantage.
A Chris Tierney corner in the 90th minute gave New England one last ditch effort, but Andrew Farrell’s point blank shot at the top of the six-yard box found the back of teammate Charlie Davies' leg.
Both clubs return to action next Saturday looking for their first goals of the season, with Montreal opening up Stade Olympique against Orlando City SC, while the Revolution host the San Jose Earthquakes.
