Los Angeles Football Club forward Bradley Wright-Phillips was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 13, rewarding a performance against the Vancouver Whitecaps in which he scored a brace in the opening 11 minutes of his side's 6-0 win on Wednesday.

He scored the first of his two goals in the sixth minute, when a deflected ball bounced towards Wright-Phillips in the penalty area. From there, the forward hit a volley from the middle of the box to give his team a 2-0 lead.

He scored a second just five minutes later, Wright-Phillips was waiting on the edge of the six yard box when the ball was once again deflected towards him. He then scored via an overhead kick from close range.

Wright-Phillips, who now has seven MLS goals in 2020, wins the Player of the Week award for the 12th time, third-most in league history. It is his first Player of the Week honor since Week 29 of the 2018 season.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
