"Stevie G" will be officially introduced to his new country on Independence Day.
Steven Gerrard is set to be unveiled as an LA Galaxy player at this Saturday's home game against Toronto FC at StubHub Center (10:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE in US, Sportsnet 360 in Canada), the club announced on Monday, and the England international will begin training with his new team on Tuesday, July 7.
Gerrard will be welcomed at halftime of Saturday's match, the Galaxy's final contest before he becomes eligible to play for LA when the international transfer window opens on July 8.
Much like former Galaxy superstar David Beckham, the Liverpool icon announced in January that he had signed a Designated-Player contract with LA but concluded the European club season before arriving in Southern California over the weekend.

Gerrard and his wife, Alex Curran, touched down to a celebrity's welcome on Saturday, as paparazzi mobbed them in the arrivals terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.
His first training session next week is expected to draw a large media attendance as well, and the Galaxy scheduled a press conference inside StubHub Center afterwards, with club president Chris Klein, head coach and GM Bruce Arena and Dan Beckerman, president and CEO of Galaxy owners Anschutz Entertainment Group, expected to participate.
