If you're not from New England and you didn't know about the existence of a Flag of New England, the newest jersey launched by the Revolution on Tuesday will be an eye-opener.
The away shirt is inspired by the Flag of New England -- red, white (on the chest) and green (neck and collar). The flag can be found on the back neck in all its glory, but it comes with a twist: The Revs logo is faded into the solid red part of the flag (see below left).
For a full description of what it represents, look no further than the jock tag on the lower left corner of the jersey, which reads (see below):
"Dating back to 1775, this flag represented the New England colonies in the Revolutionary War. This jersey celebrates the bond between the club and its supporters, who fly the flag today."

As for the Revolution, they date back to 1996 as one of the founding members of MLS and that fact is celebrated in the "Est 1996" added to the inside neck tape and in the "Founding Team" patch located inside the jersey behind the crest.
