Miami and Nashville play to a draw after lengthy weather delay

After an 80-minute weather delay, Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC played to a 0-0 draw in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday night.

The match was 0-0 at halftime, with both teams leaving chances on the table in the first 45 minutes. Inter Miami had several opportunities in the 6-yard box that they weren’t able to put away, including a shot that DP Rodolfo Pizarro volleyed wide in the 8th minute.

On the other end of the pitch, Nashville SC’s best opportunity came in the 24th minute off a shot from a free kick. Inter Miami goalkeeper Luis Robles made the initial save and then a defender cleared the ball off the line to keep the clean sheet.

It was a similar story in the second half — both teams had several chances to get a goal and take all three points, but it just wasn't meant to be at Inter Miami CF Stadium.

Nashville SC's Daniel Lovitz had a massive chance in the 80th minute when Robles came off his line, but put it wide of the post. Shortly after, Inter Miami earned a free kick at the top of the 18-yard box. Robbie Robinson took it low and through the wall, but it also veered off to the left of the goal.

At the final whistle, it ended in a scoreless draw.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: Both expansion sides have been struggling in their initial seasons and are looking to get something going. Three points for Nashville SC would've put them in a competitive position for a playoff spot.
  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH: The Inter Miami SC attack was considerably more dangerous than Nashville SC, requiring goalkeeper Joe Willis to make a couple of big saves, including a fantastic kick save in the 57th minute.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH: â€‹While both goalkeepers played well, Nashville SC goalkeeper Joe Willis consistently made smart decisions and great saves to give his team the best possible chance for winning against the Inter Miami CF attack. While Nashville SC couldn’t get it done offensively, they can thank Willis for getting a point on the road tonight.
