Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric snares MLS Save of the Week award for Kaká denial

Dynamo's Deric gets SOTW silving lining

Tyler Deric is widely seen to have had a rough night at the office when Orlando City SC knocked off the Houston Dynamo on Friday, March 13, as it was his error that led to OCSC's game-winning goal.

But it was actually the only real blemish on another solid outing for the young goalkeeper, and the highlight of that performance has earned him the MLS Save of the Week award.

After singlehandedly stoning Columbus Crew SC with a string of outstanding saves in Week 1, Deric turned heads again with an acrobatic parry of a Kaká free kick that led to his second straight SOTW nomination, and it drew more than 50 percent of this week's vote.

New York City FC's Josh Saunders finished a distant second, followed by New England's Bobby Shuttleworth, FC Dallas netminder Chris Seitz and Joe Bendik of Toronto FC.
