Voting for the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star game is underway. Can’t decide on who to vote for? Here are five of the league's top defenders for your consideration.
Omar Gonzalez | LA Galaxy
The 2011 MLS Defender of the Year is making a strong case to claim that award for the second time with his play so far this season. He has been the backbone of a Galaxy defense that has had players shuttling in and out the backline due to injuries.
Alvas Powell | Portland
The 20-year-old Jamaican defender is having a breakout season with the Timbers, helping Portland become the third stingiest defense in the league. He leads the league with 80 tackles and is sixth in the league with 50 interceptions.
Kendall Waston | Vancouver
The beastly Costa Rican center back has followed up his sterling end to the 2014 season with a good run of form to start 2015. He has helped the 'Caps concede less than a goal per game while winning 78 percent of aerials, the fourth highest percentage in the league.
Damien Perrinelle | NY Red Bulls
The Frenchman has rewarded Jesse Marsch's trust in him so far in 2015, after playing just two games with the club in 2014. The Red Bulls had been one of the top defenses in the league before Perrinelle went down with an injury. They have conceded just 0.9 goals per minutes when he's on the field and 2.5 per 90 minutes when he is not.
Sean Franklin | D.C. United
The former LA Galaxy right back is having another great season for D.C. United in his second year with the club. He has also been dangerous going forward, creating 15 chances, while proving just as stout defensively.
