Jurgen Locadia - FC Cincinnati - Back

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension

Jurgen Locadia will remain an FC Cincinnati player through at least June 30, 2021, as the second-year MLS club and Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to extend the striker’s loan. The deal, which was announced Friday, comes as the Designated Player’s original loan deal was set to expire July 5, 2020.

FC Cincinnati hold a permanent transfer option at the conclusion of the new loan date. Should that option be exercised, Locadia’s new contract would run through Dec. 31, 2023.

Since coming to MLS this past offseason, Locadia scored one goal in two appearances. He’s previously scored 72 goals and provided 42 assists across stops with PSV Eindhoven (2011-17), Brighton (2018-20) and TSG Hoffenheim (2019-20).

FC Cincy, drawn into Group E for the MLS is Back Tournament, are amid their early days under head coach Jaap Stam. Locadia and Stam, in addition to general manager Gerard Nijkamp, are both from the Netherlands.
