- Things then changed very quickly after the second-half restart. In the 52nd minute, Chris Tierney, in an attempt to challenge for a 50/50 ball, went studs first into the knee of Chris Pontius, drawing a straight red card from referee Mark Geiger. Then just six minutes later, Lee Nguyen received a second yellow card after making contact with the head of D.C. United's Davy Arnaud in a tussle for the ball.
