Crew SC's Finlay nabs Player of the Week after two-goal, one-assist outing

Columbus Crew SC winger Ethan Finlay has been voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 8 of the 2015 MLS season.

Finlay broke out in a big way for Crew SC on Saturday, notching his first career brace and tallying an assist to power Columbus to their dominating 4-1 home win over the Philadelphia Union.

Columbus’ leading scorer in 2014, Finlay turned provider for Columbus’ first goal on Saturday, pinging a cross in from the right that Kei Kamara collected on the back post and slammed home in the 21st minute.

The fourth-year pro opened his 2015 account in the 32nd minute, running onto a Waylon Francis cross in the center of the box and redirecting it inside the left post to give Crew SC a 2-0 lead. Finlay sealed the win for Columbus in the 73rd, racing onto Kamara's through ball in the right side of the box and slotting a low shot inside the far post to give Crew SC their 4-1 advantage.

Finlay and Columbus will return to action this Saturday as they travel to RFK Stadium to take on D.C. United (7 pm ET, MLS LIVE).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
