The Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City meet for a second time this season in a critical contest for both clubs in the Western Conference when they face off at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday evening. The Rapids remain at home riding a two-game winning streak, now five points out of the final playoff position following their 2-1 win against the Houston Dynamo at midweek. Sporting KC are coming off back-to-back losses for the first time this season, after their 3-2 defeat at Columbus Crew SC last weekend.


  • Sporting Kansas City have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season, following their 3-2 defeat at Columbus Crew SC on Saturday evening.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Krisztian Nemeth and an own goal led Sporting to a 2-1 victory, June 27 at Sporting Park.
  • Sporting have not lost to the Rapids since a 2-1 Colorado win March 28, 2009 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, including a 3-2 win last March 29 in Commerce City in the last meeting there. Since then, KC is 4-0-5 vs. Colorado.
