The Colorado Rapids have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of midfielder Sam Nicholson, the club announced Thursday.

Nicholson had been with the Rapids since 2018, scoring four goals and recording six assists across 48 league games. Prior to that, the 25-year-old winger played with Minnesota United in 2017 and 2018, putting up two goals and two assists in 20 games before a May 2018 trade sent him to the Rapids.

Nicholson started his professional career with Heart of Midlothian in his native Scotland, scoring 13 goals in 109 games before making the move to MLS.
