The Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls meet for the first time this season when the Eastern Conference foes face off at Toyota Park on Wednesday evening. The clubs come into the match at opposite ends of the division. The Fire sit at the foot of the East, five points out of the last playoff position, after seeing their winless run stretched to three games with a 1-0 home loss to the Colorado Rapids last weekend. The Red Bulls return to action five points out of the top spot in the conference, their last match a 3-0 home win against Toronto FC 11 days ago.

  • The Fire saw their winless streak extended to three games with a second loss in that time, falling 1-0 to the Colorado Rapids at Toyota Park on Saturday.
  • The Red Bulls extended their undefeated streak to six games with a fifth victory in their time last time out, defeating Toronto FC 3-0 on Aug. 15 at Red Bull Arena. Bradley Wright-Phillips netted a goal for a second consecutive game – his sixth in the last eight games – and now has 11 goals for the season.
  • The Red Bulls have never won at Toyota Park. Their last away win against Chicago came May 14, 2005, a 3-0 win at Soldier Field. Since then, the Fire are undefeated in their last 13 home matches in the league series (8-0-5), including a 1-0 win last Aug. 14 in the last meeting between the clubs.
