Goal of the Week Update: Kaká or Mears – Who's ahead?

The Seattle Sounders look poised to win their MLS-leading fifth AT&T Goal of the Week award of the season, with Tyrone Mears’ booming strike in Seattle’s win against D.C. United holding a commanding lead in the race for the Week 18 honors.


With just one day left in the voting, Mears in running away from the field, with his 88th minute winner holding over 55 percent of the vote.


Orlando City SC star Kaká is in a distant second, with his strike in the Lions’ 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake registering 18.53 percent of the tally. Columbus Crew SC’s Ethan Finlay is in third with 14.81 percent, with FC Dallas’ Mauro Diaz and LA Galaxy’s Sebastian Lletget and rounding out the field with 5.76 percent and 5.57 percent, respectively.


It’ll be a serious surprise if anyone catches Mears, but there’s still time to make your voice heard in the race. Vote now before the polls close at 11:59 pm PT on Thursday night – the winner will be announced on Friday based off of your online votes.
