Goal of the Week

Ali Adnan of the Vancouver Whitecaps captures AT&T Goal of the Week for stunning free kick golazo

Which long-distance banger captured Goal of the Week?

A thunderous strike from distance by Ali Adnan was the winner for AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 20 of the MLS season.

The Vancouver Whitecaps Designated Player received 41.31 percent of the vote for a stunning free kick from more than 30 yards out in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes.

Adnan edged out Jamiro Monteiro, who finished second for his powerful blast from outside the 18-yard box after a ridiculous Brenden Aaronson dummy as part of the Philadelphia Union’s 5-0 thrashing of Toronto FC.

Staying with the Union, Anthony Fontana's ownership of the New England Revolution continued as the Homegrown midfielder’s cheeky chip with the outside of his right foot in a 2-1 win was good for third in the voting with 15.49 percent.

Tajon Buchanan’s 20-yard banger for the Revs in the same game took fourth with 8.76 percent of the vote and Kyle Duncan’s cut to his left foot and clinical finish in the New York Red Bulls’ 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire rounded out the voting at 3.55 percent.
