Player of the Week

20-goal scorer Kei Kamara of Columbus Crew SC named MLS Player of the Week for third time

Thrice is Nice: Kamara claims third MLS PotW honors after brace vs. Union

Kei Kamara just keeps on rolling, and the accolades just keep on coming.

Kamara was voted Week 28's MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) on Tuesday for his two-goal performance in Columbus Crew SC's 2-1 road victory over the Philadelphia Union this past Saturday. Kamara bagged his game-winning brace during a five-minute span of the first half, heading home a cross in the 21st minute and then slotting a low ball in to give Crew SC a 2-0 lead.

The award-winning performance, Kamara's third of the year, helps bolster his MLS MVP case: the current Golden Boot leader became the first MLS player this year to score 20 goals (16th all-time). Kamara's three Player of the Week awards match him with Sebastian Giovinco, Robbie Keane, and Bradley Wright-Phillips for the 2015 MLS lead.

Kamara was previously named Player of the Week in Weeks 12 and 23.
